Virtual Density Announces the Acquisition of Magsnet’s Web Hosting and Server Colocation Business
Danbury CT, March 8, 2010 - Virtual Density, the data protection and IT Cloud Services specialist announced it has acquired select operating assets of MagsNet, a Connecticut ISP and web hosting provider founded in 1998. MagsNet has historically offered DSL connectivity, server colocation, web hosting and email services.
Virtual Density helps IT service providers and their clients meet their data protection, disaster recovery and regulatory compliance requirements by leveraging the latest in cloud based IT infrastructure. The acquisition provides Virtual Density with a new headquarters location and a reliable facility with the power and fiber optic infrastructure needed to support their portfolio of IT service offerings. The deal is expected to lead to significant growth for the company. It immediately bolsters the company’s client roster in Connecticut and it offers both the Virtual Density and MagsNet clients enhanced service capabilities.
Virtual Density CEO Christopher Furey said the acquisition includes MagsNet’s hosting clients and opens up marketing access to their pool of broadband customers. "We were shopping for a location to build a new Network Operation Center and buying the MagsNet facility just made better sense. Now we can leverage their data center assets and location. The facility is conveniently located along the I-84 corridor and that gives us easy reach across Fairfield and New Haven County, right to Hartford. It is a perfect fit for us."
MagsNet founder Margaret Leach said, "The Internet business has splintered and the most successful service providers today are specialists. The sale of our data center and hosting business to Virtual Density lets us focus on being the best broadband provider we can be. Customers today have very few choices beyond the cable and telecom companies. I want to provide business-class service with a superior support experience than what people typically receive from my competitors. This deal enhances our service offering and lowers our operating costs. Together we now have an IT service delivery platform that can help us protect and transform the businesses of our mutual clients. I’m very excited about our future."
